David Bradley
Greetings!
'Ey.up, and welcome to the official Kes - Billy Casper web site; the only place that I can guarantee speaks for me: David (aka Dai) Bradley.
It's almost 40 years since the opportunity of a lifetime (chance or synchronicity?) came knocking, and changed not only my life but consequently millions of people who have seen the film, and were moved by Billy's story. On the eve of the new millennium KES was voted 7th in the top 100 UK films' poll conducted by the British Film Institute; and latterly 28th in a World Cinema census carried out by Channel 5 TV.
Considering all but one in the cast were non professionals, and it was made on a shoe-string budget of £165,000 - almost abandoned before shooting began, then world premiered at London West End's furthest outpost (Doncaster ABC cinema), because the distributors had serious reservations apropos appeal - its success is all the more remarkable.
Owing to the film's continued popularity, I decided to team up with a friend~ and create a web site, so that I can respond to the many requests from fans for photo memorabilia, and personalised merchandise along with answering the numerous questions about KES, as well as my life and career.
Our web site is an evolving, ongoing project. My participation will be subject to time and availability; if possible I'll make a personal contribution every month in the form of a Q 'n' A session. However I hope you'll forgive me if your questions become part of a compilation, otherwise it will be impossible to answer everyone. Send in your questions for this month; look out for my responses by the 2nd week of October - staying on site for several months, so as to diminish duplication.
Until then, I send my warmest regards to all who wish to ensure Billy Casper's indomitable spirit lives on. Hamba Gashlee - go well.
